Generosity: The Origami Gift Box Workshop

This workshop is my invitation to find the joy in making things; a moment to pause and practice generosity through the crafting of 2 beautiful, heirloom gift boxes.

You'll begin by learning an origami technique using 300gsm card to construct two boxes with lids (one approximately 11cm x 5cm, the other 9cm x 4cm) sturdy enough to be given, received, and used again and again. From there we will layer in surface pattern using a selection of coloured card and decorative paper, along with stamping, pens and coloured pencils. The final touches will be to create delicate ruffs and bows with simplified passementerie techniques from a selection of yarns, paper and decorative ribbon.

I will guide you through the technique, but the choices of colour, pattern and finish are entirely your own. By the close of the session, you will leave with two one-of-a-kind gift boxes ~ ready to hold a small treasure, or to be given as a gift in themselves.

Group sizes are small so every maker gets the time, space and individual attention to truly flourish. No experience required. All materials provided.

About the Tutor: Alison Pascoe is a fibre artist, craftsperson, tutor and the founder of ASTRL Fibres ~ a Belfast studio dedicated to heritage craft skills, established in 2016. For Alison, craft is more than just a skill ~ it's a mindful practice, a powerful form of connection, expression and a grounding way of thinking with your hands in a virtual age.

Cancellations Policy: For all refunds or booking transfers please notify Alison by email hello@astrlfibres.com. Bookings are transferable. A full refund will be issued for cancellations made before 10 days prior to the workshop date, 50% refunds will be given for cancellations made between 10 days - 2days prior to the workshop date, 75% refund will be given for cancellations made between 2 days and the date of the workshop. If you book and pay but do not attend the workshop, no refund will be issued. In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled you will receive a full refund.
